7/11/12 America’s Got Talent is the second AGT quarterfinal reveal. Will your favorite go through?
We’ll find out at 8pm in the West, and Nobody’s View will have the write-up.
Howard Stern and Howie Mandel had some huge disagreements last night. Will they reconcile? Will Big Barry go through? Ah, the dramas of life.
[We here at Nobody’s View have a soft spot for America’s Got Talent. Why? Well, contestants on the show are our kind of folks. Just regular people like you and me who get to live their dream. Getting their moment in the sun. People doing what they feel they were born to do. Hard to argue with that! And, judging by the thousands of you who join me here each season, well, I think you agree! Welcome to the LIVE Nobody’s View America’s Got Talent 2012 blog.]
Okay, sorry…a little late. I had to take a little trip today. Really needed it. But we’re here now.
So, I’m watching the start of the show…this America’s Got Talent second quarterfinal reveal. Got to re-live the argument between Howard and Howie regarding Big Barry. Got to see Sharon Osbourne play referee.
So, who were your picks from last night? It was a strange night. Some standouts. Some sit-downs. Interesting.
Ha! Did you see Howard Stern make a hand gesture? He must read this blog (or not). We all need a trademark hand gesture. We’re still not sure what mine will be. Do you care? I think we were going to do some kind of temple-tap.
Tim Hockenberry and Turf
Uh oh. Two of the stronger acts. Are they both going through? That’d be great. Turf is so determined to win, and Hockenberry is determined to break out. Good pairing if they both move on.
Sharon said she couldn’t call it. That she was nervous. Have you ever had one of those choices to make where you just couldn’t decide? It’s tough! But you have to make a decision and stick to it! No matter what they say….
So, the act moving on here? Both! Nice. Had to be. This is really shaping up to be a great competition. Howie’s hat notwithstanding.
So, after the break? Nick Cannon talked with Howie Mandel. He did some “annoying” with the contestants in the hotel. He pretended he was with guest services and tortured the contestants. Vintage Howie. I wish I had that kind of chutzpah. Hey, check that out…the blog didn’t try to correct that Yiddish word. Good for you, WordPress.
Gavin DeGraw was up next. I think I’ll hit the ol’ fast forward button. No offense, GD, but it’s getting late here.
Aaaaaaand, we’re back. Just in time for the Orville Lounge. I wish I liked popcorn more. I mean, I have nothing against it, it’s just that it gets stuck in the ol’ teeth, and, y’know….
So, back in non-popcorn reality….
The Lisa Clark Dancers, The All Ways, Aurora Light Painters, and Big Barry.
I have a feeling all these acts are going home in a few minutes…just a prediction…which I will erase if it doesn’t happen. See how great blogging is?
Anyway, we got to re-live so many great moments from last night, including Big Barry, and the battle of Howard/Howie. And when it came back life? Stern was brutal on Barry. Man. Wow. But anyway, will my erasable prediction come true?
It did! I have AGT ESP. Is there such a thing? Well, there is now.
Sharon said she wasn’t surprised. I don’t think many people were.
But how the heck would I know that? I’m just one guy.
That being said…
Tom Cotter, LionDanceMe, and Hawley Magic
Loved Tom Cotter. A very smart set of magic is hard to beat. The other two groups were certainly entertaining and colorful, but Tom Cotter is the standout here, I think. But again, what do I know? I’m just Nobody.
In the end, America chose Tom Cotter. I personally can’t wait to hear more of this guy’s act. Hopefully this fully launches his career, whether or not he wins.
After the break, another performance. Traces. This was a terrific act last year, so I’ll watch it again this year. I liked the Coldplay music. And the fact they were dressed like they just got out of bed…or the gym. Cool. Jumping through the hoops was pretty neat. I’d have 100 stitches by now. And how about that guy that was leaping through the highest hoop. How the heck does he practice that for the first time? The see-saw jumping was also nice. The last time I was on a see-saw, I see-saw parts of my body getting pinched. Memories.
Anyway, Traces was great…but who’s going on as the last AGT second semifinal act?
Ben Blaque, Donovan & Rebecca, and Danielle Stallings
Who will the judges pick? The death-defying archer, the acrobatic geniuses, or the young girl with the great voice? Tough choice.
But first, America sent home Ben Blaque. I think it probably came down to the fact that it’s just too hard to watch someone shoot projectiles at another person night after night. Especially a guy who has bangs in his eyes…eyes that he uses to aim those sharp projectiles.
So that leaves Donovan & Rebecca and Danielle Stallings.
After the break, the judges had to vote. Howard had high praise for both acts, but he told Danielle it wasn’t quite her time. So, he went with Donovan & Rebecca. Sharon also heaped on the praise, but she really had admiration for Danielle, and decided to put her through.
That left Howie with the deciding vote. He loved the variety of Donovan and Rebecca and the promise of Danielle. But in the end, he chose Donovan & Rebecca.
Danielle was emotional about the decision, but in the end, the strength act won out.
