Alright Nobody Nation — Welcome to the Tuesday, September 13, AGT blog at Nobody’s View! Tonight, the final four acts (Poplyfe, Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., Team iLuminate, and Silhouettes) perform in the America’s Got Talent finals.
Howie Mandel, Sharon Osbourne, and Piers Morgan will merely witness the performances and you will decide who takes home the million.

(The usual disclosure: As you know, we are a site devoted to opinion, inspiration, civility, and tolerance. So, why this weekly ritual with AGT? Well, first, it’s our guilty pleasure [life can’t always be so serious], and second, it fits right into one of our pillars: inspiration. America’s Got Talent features folks who are going for it in a very real sense. They are living their dream, come what may [the big red “X”?]. Doesn’t matter who you are, what you look like, or where you come from. On stage, you’re all equal under the lights. That’s pretty great to me.)
We started with an introduction of acts that are, by now, household names for those of us who watch the show.
Nick Cannon had on a stylish tux (what will Piers say?), the house erupted, and all over America, people yelled, “Where’s Daniel Joseph Baker?!” Oh, sorry…that was me yelling that.
Who’s your favorite? Are they still in the competition?
My viewing group pretty much agrees — all good acts, all with talent, all with an argument to win the million. Probably too close to call at this point.
In the starting montage, we got to re-live many moments from the past…acts that we remember, and some that we may have forgotten…some great moments and some moments so forgettable, they were great. It reminded me just how long of a summer it’s been with AGT. Let me just take this opportunity to thank the thousands and thousands of you who have tuned in with me each week. I really appreciate your support!
Alright, enough sentiment. On to the acts…
Performance 1 – Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again…this guy is Nobody Nation personified. He has been homeless, and at the lowest point, and then suddenly, he met someone, had a family, and now, he comes out of nowhere to be the future of crooning. Love it. Love it. Love it. His selection tonight? Sinatra’s My Way. Indeed, Landau. You did this your way. And you did it with such style and class that you left millions speechless, including me. “What a moment,” Piers said. Piers then went on to say that Landau sang Sinatra’s signature song with incredible heart. Sharon said she had goosebumps…”perfectly sung!” Howie thought the performance was good enough to make a million. I can’t wait to see him perform in Vegas…would love to meet him and shake his hand, and congratulate him on a dream well-lived.
And he did it……….HIS way.
After the break, we got to see all the final acts traveling through Vegas. Why? Well, they were treated to a vision of what’s in store for their future. They got to stand on the Caesar’s Palace stage (the Colosseum) and live a little taste of a dream come true. I could see them all up there!
Performance 2 – Team iLuminate
Here’s an easy favorite. What’s not to love? Great story. Great art. Great talent. Great visual. It takes Fighting Gravity to another (a different?) level. The act started with a beating red heart and the same stunning light effects we’ve come to love. Stunning. Beautiful. I absolutely cannot wait to get to Vegas and buy tickets to their show. Sharon brought Nobody Nation home — AGT exists to give anonymous people with an idea, a stage.
That’s why I write my books, folks. That’s why Team iLuminate dances. It’s why you should follow your dream.
Terry Fator was up after the break. This guy’s great. Singing, comedy, impressions…all without moving his lips. When my lips move, something ridiculous usually comes out. I can’t imagine doing what Fator does.
Maybe I should keep my mouth shut more often.
Performance 3 – Poplyfe
Nobody Nation loves this group. If you’ve been reading all season, you know they’re a favorite around here. They are what we are around here. They took on Queen tonight. Good lord! We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions…quite a risk. Kehlani Parrish can do anything, though, right? Was this the right song? Who knows? Nobody can tell. But in the end, this is a band that crosses paradigms and age groups. They appeal to everyone. We’ll be hearing a lot more from them.
Poplyfe are champions, my friends.
Technical difficulties for Silhouettes took us to some highlights of the auditions, including a comedian sticking his hand on Howie’s head. I really thought, at that moment, that Howie was going to lose it. Who knows? Maybe he did after the show. Then we re-visited some unique dance moves and a Piers Morgan/Howie Mandel sword fight. And, yes, we were treated once again to the guy breaking boards on his head. As the blood came to the surface, it got harder and harder to watch. I often think as I watch some of these auditions, do these people know that after their 60 seconds of fame is up, they have to re-enter society? Oh, well. Next was a Nick Cannon montage, yet somehow they still managed to slip in some shots of people swallowing swords and piercing themselves with pins. Ugh.
Performance 4 – Silhouettes
After the delay, one of the most creative acts I’ve ever seen came up. Silhouettes did an amazing job of giving us their shadowplay. FREAKIN’ INCREDIBLE! Did you see that? What a Wonderful World never looked so good. There isn’t a whole heckuva lot to say. If you missed it, find it somewhere and watch it.
There are your final four acts, Nobody Nation — Poplyfe, Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., Team iLuminate, and Silhouettes.
Good luck with the voting and have a great night.
Join us tomorrow for the LIVE finale (7pm in the West).
