Auction Hunters Reminds Me of My Own Crappy Storage Locker

I’m getting hooked on these reality-based antique shows, like American Pickers and Pawn Stars.  I like watching people searching for interesting things and talking about what they find.  Tonight I’m trying Auction Hunters on the advice of a friend.

In case you don’t know, Auction Hunters is about two guys who go around buying storage lockers and selling off what’s inside.  Awesome!  This is a career path?  Why wasn’t I notified?

My only thought is that now the show is getting the secret out, so aren’t there going to be masses of people going out to do this?  One of my friends says he wants to get started doing it.  Actually, come to think of it, it sounds like a great hobby!  It’s a gamble for sure, but each trunk could hold a treasure.

Not in my storage locker, of course, but in other peoples’ lockers.  I mean, if you look in my locker, you’ll find some old skis and some souvenirs from various countries…and maybe a book or two…but not much else.  It’s a veritable what’s not of collecting.  Is there a show in there somewhere?  A reality show about a guy collecting nothing.  Oh, yeah — it’s called “Reality.”  Not one of my favorite shows.

So far I’m finding Auction Hunters entertaining.  Maybe some day I’ll try my hand at it.  Until then, I’ll just keep filling my own locker up with crap…just in case anyone comes bidding.
