8/3/11 America’s Got Talent Season 6 Episode 19 is the Fourth AGT Quarterfinal Results Reveal…Will Your Favorite Move On?

Welcome to the LIVE Nobody’s View blog for the America’s Got Talent fourth AGT quarterfinal results reveal.

Here’s the roll call for last night’s acts: The Kinetic King, Zuma Zuma, Avery and the Calico Hearts, Charles Peachock, Sam B, Taylor Davis, Melissa Villasenor, Scott Alexander, Fatally Unique, Yellow Designs Stunt Team, Frank Miles, Team iLuminate.

Is your favorite here?

Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan, Howie Mandel, and Nick Cannon will preside on this road to the AGT semis.  Who did America choose?

(The usual disclosure: As you know, we are a site devoted to opinion, inspiration, civility, and tolerance.  So, why this weekly ritual with AGT?  Well, first, it’s our guilty pleasure [life can’t always be so serious], and second, it fits right into one of our pillars: inspiration.  America’s Got Talent features folks who are going for it in a very real sense.  They are living their dream, come what may [the big red “X”?].  Doesn’t matter who you are, what you look like, or where you come from.  On stage, you’re all equal under the lights.  That’s pretty great to me.)

Let’s find out who’s moving on!

In the green room, everyone had to pretend to be not nervous.

Then we got to meet Piers, Sharon and Howie again.  Ah, the joy of routine.  We come to expect a certain progression of a show, and we get it.  I liked Piers’ comments at the start of tonight’s show.  He said it was a good show last night, but was honest in saying that it wasn’t all perfect.  You have to admit that he’s honest…and maybe that’s okay.

Eliminatinon 1

Frank Miles, Avery and the Calico Hearts, Taylor Davis, Fatally Unique

Sharon looked at the stage and said that she couldn’t understand why three of the acts were standing there.  She was very complimentary to them all.  What did you think of all these acts?

In the end, Fatally Unique was moving on.  I loved them.  They were really sharp last night.  As for Avery and the Calico Hearts?  Well, I guarantee you will see them on TV soon.  The other two acts have good talent, and maybe time will take them to their dreams.

Piers called Fatally Unique the “most deserved” to move on at this stage and he’s correct — they have really improved.  They really are entertaining.

We’re back.  After the break, it was Howie with a bullhorn, walking around the lot showing us how everything works.  Inevitably, he pulled some pranks on Piers. To Piers’ credit he can run quite fast in dress shoes.

On stage next, pop star Jason Derulo.

I’m going for another cherry square.  See you after the next break!

Maybe I’ll get a bullhorn like Howie and walk around the neighborhood.

After commercial, the host of Love in the Wild.  Adventure dating?  I think just getting into a coffeehouse on a Saturday night with a date is an adventure in itself.

Now, let’s get to:

Elimination 2

Zuma Zuma, Yellow Designs Stunt Team

I like both of these acts.  Piers and the judges liked both of the acts.  They’re good acts!  I’d be happy if both went through.

In the end?  Zuma Zuma.  Hard to argue this one.  I don’t think the world has heard the last of Yellow Designs Stunt Team.  I can think of a ton of venues where they could make a splash.  As for Zuma Zuma?  On to the semis with their high energy dance.

Elimination 3

Scott Alexander, Team iLuminate, Sam B

Nobody wanted to be up against Team iLuminate on stage.  I don’t think there’s much I can write here.

It had to be.

How could it not?

This act is ripe and ready right now.  I cannot wait to see them in the next round. I can’t wait to see them at my local arena.

Good stuff!

Now, it’s time for Maroon 5 with “Moves Like Jagger.”

Remember Maroon 5?  They have a nice sound.  As you know if you’re a regular here, I’m no Sharon Osbourne, but I know what I like (note: especially the 80s). Maroon 5’s pretty decent.  Even my viewing party likes the sound and they’re a wee bit older than I!

In the green room, we found Mr. Nick Cannon standing with Charles Peachock, The Kinetic King, and Melissa Villasenor.

Elimination 4

All the acts went to the stage, and as they did, I found myself thinking, America realized how hard it is to drop tennis balls on a keyboard in tune and in time to music.  I was also heartened to see that The Kinetic King got some sympathy votes.

The act leaving right now?  The Kinetic King.  I would have liked to have seen what else he could do.  Guess I’ll have to wait for him to show up on the Discovery Channel.

Charles Peachock and Melissa Villasenor both had a chance to make their appeal to the judges.

Did they win your heart?

Sharon was complimentary to both acts, but she went with Melissa.  Piers was also complimentary, but he said the best chance of winning was Charles.  Howie picked Melissa, sending an unbelievable juggler home.

Charles, I want to say this: I saw you last night.  I saw what you did with that piano.  I believe that took you eight years.  I hope I haven’t seen the last of you.

  1. You blew it! Howie only likes comedians and does not know talent! I am no longer a fan of his. Melissa is good; but, she did not deserve to move forward. The only judge who really knows talent is Piers. Sharon is OK but is a little flaky like her husband.

    • @KARL: Thanks for sharing your opinion here. I’m not associated with America’s Got Talent or NBC, but I am a fan of the show. Some of the folks with whom I watch agree with you and think that the juggler should have gone through. Maybe he’ll come back in the wildcard rounds!

  2. We watch AGT each year and this year is certainly not up to par. Last year, the judges JUDGED! This year, they are so busy trying to upstage each other that they have lost sight of theoir purpose. We do not watch the show to watch Howie using air horns, pouring wsater on Pies’ chair, and crack jokes about passing gas. If we wanted this, we would watch reruns of the three stooges. Between the goofing around of the judges, and the blaring mouth of NIck Cannon, thjis will be our last year of watching AGT.

    • @ROBERT: Thanks for the comment. I think there are probably a lot of people out there who agree with you. But I’m also guessing the ratings gurus at some firm or another found that the judges’ interplay is good for ratings (although that’s just a guess and opinion). Sometimes the people I watch with will say, “C’mon! Is this all an act with the judges?” At times they seem to be at each others’ throats and at other times, they are smiling and laughing with each other. But you have to admit, it gets people talking!

  3. I also enjoyed AGT every yr but this yr the talent acts are really awful its like a circus.. My Hisband & I are so disappointed in the judges. They act like a bungchof kids. How you use to be really good . Sharon You are usually right on but all this sarcastic remarks with you & Howie about Piers is so rude not funny at all. Piers is a gentleman through & through. I knows when talent is talent. .I had music all my life & understand talent . I’m sure you will loose tons of viewers for the rest of this show. Nick Cannon lighten up on horseing around. . very diappointed & Howie you keep saying its the best talent ever . It is not. Hope you read this.

    • @CORINNE: Thanks for the opinion. I am not in any way associated with the show or NBC, but I am happy to post your thoughts. It’s so hard each year to gauge the talent, as there is such an amazing variety. But I admit, it’s hard to top Jackie Evancho, Michael Grimm, and Fighting Gravity. Those are still three of my favorite acts, and they all came from last year.
