I know it’s been awhile. Things have been a little wild, but then again things have been wild in the world.
I am not slavishly attached to newscasts, although I do get my news on in various forms. But today, I just took a look around to see what all is making news, and the disparity from light to dark is so striking! I guess if we really want to appreciate the good times, we have to have some sympathy and compassion for those who are going through more difficult times…and we never know when it may be us.
Luckily, along the way, there are some crazy tidbits to provide a little relief — whether funny, or just downright comical. Don’t miss out on those, as well. Life is hard sometimes. It’s tragic sometimes. But in the end, it’s our life…and we have to be supportive to those in that life, otherwise? Well, otherwise, what are we doing here?
Here are some big news-makers from the past few months. Anything to add? Any comments? Let me know.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers will meet in Super Bowl XLV, so that’s exciting. I guess. I wouldn’t know. I don’t really care about either team, and as a Cleveland Browns fan, I really could care less about the Steelers. Heck, half the time I could care less about the Browns (but don’t tell them that. I still love them!)
Egypt is in unrest concerning Hasni Mubarak. I guess if you keep people underfoot long enough, they gain the strength to topple you. People deserve a voice. People are born with an inherent right to a voice… Remember that if you are going into politics. On second thought, just stay away from politics.
Groundhog Punxsutawney Phil is going to come on out Groundhog Day 2011 again today and do his…thing…Although if he just looks outside his window, he’ll have a pretty good predictor of what’s coming. I’ll take the sun, thanks.
In other weather news, Queensland Australia is getting pounded by a category 5 cyclone named Yasi. Let’s send some good thoughts their way, please.
A woman named Julie K. Schenecker allegedly murdered her two teenage children in Florida. She has stated to police that the children were giving her backtalk. I am sure there will be plenty of blame to go around, but for the sake of the departed, we can only hope justice is served.
Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords continues to improve after Jared Loughner allegedly shot into a crowd in Tucson. This is good news. No matter the details of the ongoing Loughner trial, it is nice to see that Rep. Giffords is making progress in her treatment. That is the most important thing, I believe.
There is so much more…so much important and so much trivial. Charlie Sheen has checked in to rehab, VP Magic Johnson claims to have concerns about the Los Angeles Lakers, Mariah Carey is expecting twins, and MTV’s show “Skins” is drawing controversy like crazy.
Don’t worry. There’s more news out there. There always will be. Just make sure you find your balance in the middle of it all.
