9/8 America’s Got Talent Top 10 Eliminations Feature Jackie Evancho, Fighting Gravity, Taylor Mattews and Prince Poppycock

It’s Wednesday.

That means an America’s Got Talent elimination show.

But this isn’t just any night.  Tonight we found out who will be included in next week’s final.

Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and Howie Mandel have no say tonight.  It was all up to you.

Jackie Evancho, Fighting Gravity, Prince Poppycock, Studio One Young Beast Society, Jeremy VanSchoonhoven, Anna and Patryk, Michael Grasso, Taylor Matthews, Michael Grimm, & Christina and Ali all learned their fate tonight!

Who is your choice?  Did they make it?  Did they go home?

One thing’s for sure.  Piers had his characteristic introduction-by-Nick-Cannon-smug-look.  What are we going to do next week when we see it for the last time?

Oh, well.  Let’s review this week’s picks.

Elimination 1

Michael Grasso and Prince Poppycock.

When these names were called together, I and my viewing companions screamed, “Oh no!”  These are certainly two of our favorite acts.

Piers called Grasso one of the best, and Poppycock is…well, what can we say?  He’s just amazing.

In the end it was Prince Poppycock.  That was a bittersweet moment.  However, you KNOW that Grasso is Vegas-bound.  I’m sure I’ll see him on one of my jaunts to Vegas.

Poppycock?  You told us dreams can come true.  Seeing you go through?  I know you are absolutely, 100% right.

Oh, and one of my viewing partners said she will go to Vegas just to see you…and she is not prone to liking Vegas…

Product Plug 1

Orville Lounge

We got to watch Nick make awkward conversation with the top 10 in the Orville lounge while eating popcorn.

In the immortal words of Peter Griffin: “Terrific.  Terrific.”

Intermission 1

Green Day “American Idiot” stage show.

I can’t really comment on this…We switched the TV over to America’s Funniest Home Videos reruns.

We’re not huge Green Day fans around here…although we can see it in the picture-in-picture.

That’s probably a mistake.

Yeah.  It was a mistake.

Apologies to you Green Day fans.  Nothing personal…just a TV/music preference.  Let’s be friends.

We’re back to NBC now.

Elimination 2

Michael Grimm and Taylor Matthews

Both of these guys gave terrific performances last night.  I have to say, however, that I prefer Grimm’s voice and performance.  As I’ve said over and over, his sheer grit makes him a favorite.

Howie said that both acts blew him away and that he thought each performer should move through.

In the end, America chose Michael Grimm.  I think it was the right choice, as do my two viewing partners (another another viewer I know who is currently on vacation!)

We’ll be seeing more of Taylor.  We’ll be hearing more from Taylor.  The    Bieber-licious hair will not be denied.

Good for you, Grimm.  I can’t wait to hear more from you.

One of my viewing partners just asked, “What about the Dead Beasts?  The Young Dead Beasts?

We told her they’re coming up.

They are.

Intermission 2

Sarah McLachlin from her new album Law of Illusion.

She has a great voice.  Sounds a bit like Debra Romer, no?

Debra could easily be in this final group.  I miss her.  I’d like to see her perform sometime.  Maybe some day when I’m back in Michigan for some reason.

I’m not sure what that reason would be, but…

Elimination 3

Jeremy VanSchoonhoven and Christina and Ali

America picked neither.

We had a feeling.  Both of these groups are talented, but there was just so much competition.  I know it is a cliche, but again, we will see both of these acts again somewhere, sometime.

Elimination 4

Jackie Evancho and Anna and Patryk

What can we say?  The talent on this stage right now is exceptional.  I hate to see either of these acts leave.

One thing is for sure, both of these acts are going to be very well known and very entertaining.

In the end, America chose Jackie Evancho, and I don’t think that was any surprise.  She is a monster talent, and she will only get better.

As for Anna and Patryk?  Well, we know they’ll get better, too.

Elimination 5

Studio One Young Beast Society and Fighting Gravity

Both acts did well, but really, most people I’ve talked to love Fighting Gravity and are awaiting their Vegas debut.

America picked Fighting Gravity, and I think we’ve known since first seeing them that they would be in this position.  If not for Evancho, I think Fighting Gravity could have taken this.

Of course, they still could.

So, there is your America’s Got Talent finalists: Prince Poppycock, Michael Grimm, Jackie Evancho, and Fighting Gravity.

This is a powerhouse final, and really, anyone could pull this off despite a consensus for Evancho.
