Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi have split.
My latest article at Associated Content discusses their reality-based relationship in the wider view of the everything-now generation.
I wasn’t there when Jake and Vienna were behind those closed doors. Maybe they had a real, solid relationship. Maybe it was based on something other than lust. Maybe it was the real deal.
I don’t know.
But I do know that for the rest of us out here trying to make relationships work, it isn’t as easy as a few episodes, a nice location, and some sound-bite tender moments punctuated by television drama.
What do you think? Can it be like TV? Do you want it to be?
Nobody’s take is this: Don’t fast forward the bad parts like a TiVo. Don’t seek instant gratification. Be there for the whole thing. Be there for all of it. In other words, live in reality.
